Frequently Asked Questions

  • “How long are you gone / when will you be back to tattooing?”

I will be back to tattooing in the late winter / early spring of 2026, starting with a couple appointments per week, and gradually working my way back up to full-time as I adjust to a new work-life balance with a little one

“How do I book a tattoo when you come back?”

A few weeks before I return next year, I’ll be sending out a spring newsletter with my availability (joining the waitlist adds you to this). If you’re already subscribed to the regular newsletter, you just have to stay subscribed. If not, you can join here

“Will you be taking both customs and pre-drawn tattoos?”

Custom booking won’t open again right away, I’ll only be booking pre-drawn designs when I return. See more about customs in other questions below

  • I tattoo out of La Petite Tattoo; a private and comfortable woman-owned shop by appointment only. We are located at 4506 SE Belmont St, Suite 280

  • I’ve been tattooing since fall of 2021, and was able to quit my day job and go full-time in June 2022. I’ve been with my friends at La Petite ever since!

  • Flash is priced by the piece -determined by size and level of detail - whereas customs are $200/hr. If you’re curious how long a custom piece may take, I’m happy to give a quote prior to booking!

If I can’t give an exact estimate, I always try to over-estimate rather than under.

For custom work there is an area on the submission form for any budget you may have. If you do have a budget, we will discuss that before booking.

If you’re getting a custom design, I will provide my best estimate for how long the tattoo will take in the “reminder email” you receive the week prior to the appointment.

  • (See “maternity leave questions” for current booking status)

Appointments are booked via my Booking Newsletter every two months.

If I have any remaining openings once subscribers have finished booking, my booking form will be accessible from the home page.

  • Typically, no! I find that I’m able to gather all the information I need through email after you’ve submitted a booking form.

The exception would be for sleeve projects to discuss layout and subject matter, but for one-off work I don’t usually need to see you in-person before your appointment.

  • I take cash or card (both debit and credit) for final payment at the end of your appointment.

I don’t take final payment over payment apps, only for deposits.

If you are paying via card, keep in mind that there is a 3% card fee that will be added to your total - this doesn’t go to me, this is the fee Square takes for card transactions

  • All of the flash currently posted on my website is repeatable. I will tattoo a design until I feel like I’d like to work on more current designs, at which point it will be retired.

Retired flash always has a chance of being brought back or redesigned later.

If you liked a retired design that I’m not offering, I’m usually happy to update the design upon request if I have the time to draw a newer version of it

  • Custom tattoo booking is closed until further notice. When I return to work in spring 2026, I’ll be coming back from first-time maternity leave, so I’m currently not able to say how soon I’ll have time to take custom projects once again.

    2026 newsletters will have updates!

  • When custom booking is open, custom tattoo projects are booked exclusively through my booking newsletter. You can sign up to receive the next newsletter here

  • I don’t plan to do any travel for work for the next few years. Future guest spots would be announced on my Instagram and in my booking newsletter

  • Everything you’ll need to know for your upcoming appointment will be in the reminder email you receive about a week prior to it. This will include date and time, parking and directions to our suite, estimated total price, what to bring, and how to prepare.

  • I’m always happy to do multi-tattoo sessions! 3 small designs, or 2 medium/large designs is my personal limit on what I can do in a day.

If you are interested in booking a same-day appointment with somebody else or multiple other people, please mention this and include the other person(s) name(s) and email address(es) in your submission form, and have them also fill out a booking form.

  • One guest is permitted to come to your appointment with you, though seating availability may vary depending on how busy the shop is that day

  • Currently on maternity leave - touchups can be booked when I return to work in spring 2026

Touch-ups are free (on my own work, if proper aftercare is followed) within one year of completing your tattoo. Touch-ups on tattoos older than a year are welcome, but are charged by my hourly.

Touch-up appointments are quick and typically range from 5-30 minutes.

These can be scheduled at any time, regardless of my booking status, by emailing donnajeantattoo@gmail.com. Please include a photo of your healed tattoo in your email

  • Whether I will take a cover-up project is purely a case-by-case basis, but I am always willing to take a look and provide an expert opinion on whether or not your cover-up goals require additional prep, like laser removal. For anything regarding scheduling cover-up work, you can subscribe to my newsletter to submit a booking form when I’m taking custom projects
